The WORLD'S first
high performance
beverage can
For beverage innovators and craft creators, aTULC is redefining what's possible in can packaging.
What is ?
(Pronounced a-tul-k)
aTULC (aluminum Toyo ultimate can) is a revolutionary can making technology for customers pursuing aluminum can packaging.
Developed by Toyo Seikan Group Holdings of Japan, aTULC manufacturing leverages a unique liner application method to create the world's most sustainable can making process.
Best of all, the resulting can is the only vessel of its kind - a high performance, laminated aluminum beverage can benefitting corrosivity-prone product types.

Be Corrosion Aware
Do you know what your can will withstand?
The following images are real photos from accelerated aging tests of product packaged in epoxy, BPANI and aTULC cans. They demonstrate how poor product compatibility and liner inconsistencies can result in corrosion impacting the overall integrity of the aluminum can. This type of excessive corrosion can lead to leaking cans, off-putting flavors, added expense, unusable packaging runs, and at worst, consumption of materials you’d rather not drink. Why leave your consumer’s experience up to chance?
Pre-Coated Aluminum VS SPRAYED ON LINERS
Unlike conventional production methods, where BPANI and epoxy liners are applied internally through spray applications, the aTULC liner is rolled onto both sides of the aluminum can sheet prior to production. This ensures more consistent liner coverage both inside and outside the can, and all but guarantees superior quality, limiting the chances of corrosion.
Sustainability is also increased using laminated aluminum as the aTULC liner itself acts as the lubricant during the forming process. There is no need for harsh chemicals, large amounts of water, or subsequent wastewater treatment facilities within the plant.
Designed with the toughest beverage categories in mind
aTULC thresholds accommodate a wider range of products, allowing traditionally hard-to-hold beverages to now thrive in aluminum cans.

Frequent Answers
Although it may seem surprising, due to differences in how ends are manufactured and how consistent beverage contact is/is not with each component of a can package, aTULC ends are not required. Across multiple studies and product types, standard BPANI ends have proven sufficient and offer cost savings.

Aluminum cans and traditional can liners were primarily created to hold soft drinks, lager beers, and other mainstream selections. As a result, not all beverage types have historically performed well in cans – they are ‘hard-to-hold’ – high ABV products, acidic ingredients, distilled spirits, salt, sulfites, emulsions and more. aTULC, with its high performance liner is best suited to help these types of beverages make their way into cans.
